About the Position

As the Fire Alarm Systems Estimator working at our corporate headquarters in St. Petersburg, Fla., you'll have the opportunity to collaborate directly with vendors, the business development team, and design teams to produce accurate bid packages for life safety systems. This role involves working with life safety, two-way communication (area of refuge/rescue assistance), CO/NO2 gas detection systems, and more. It is a critical position in our fire alarm systems division, positioned for growth.

Your responsibilities include managing the estimating process from start to finish, including timelines, deadlines, and estimating packages. You will communicate with vendors and clients to build relationships, define project scope, address deficiencies, and negotiate pricing. You will research quotes for materials and labor from suppliers and subcontractors, follow up on bid projects, and forecast future awards accurately. Additionally, partnering with Power Design's construction project management team is essential to transfer awarded projects properly. Staying updated with current technology trends in fire alarm systems is also important.

What We're Looking For
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in fire alarm integration projects, including at least 2 years of technical fire alarm estimating experience.
  • Knowledge of residential and commercial fire alarm and life safety technologies, including products from industry leaders such as Gamewell/FCI, Notifier, Rath, Honeywell Analytics, with industry and/or manufacturer training and certifications as a plus.
  • Experience interpreting construction documents and bid proposals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and estimating software (preferably Accubid).
  • A proven track record of maintaining excellent relationships and providing high-level customer service.
