Associate Director, Student Intervention and Community Standards

Job Summary

The Associate Director, Student Intervention and Community Standards, will assist the Director in the management of student support initiatives within the Office of Student Intervention and Community Standards. Together with the Director, the College Case Manager, and the Leaves and Returns Coordinator, the Associate Director is part of a team that focuses on ensuring the implementation of policies and practices that enhance the student experience, specifically academic and behavioral student conduct processes. The Associate Director will play a vital role in developing educational resources and structures with internal and external colleagues in the Division of Campus Life and Student Experience.

Job Description

Support and Oversight:

  • Assist the Director in overseeing the student conduct process, including case management and adherence to the Code of Conduct and Honor Code, addressing academic integrity and non-academic conduct concerns.
  • Work alongside the College Case Manager and Leaves and Returns Coordinator on case processing and outcomes.
  • Maintain regular communication with colleagues across departments handling confidential student matters, ensuring a coordinated approach.
  • Communicate with parents/families and other support persons to effectively assist in managing complex student situations, as needed.

Case Management and Investigations

  • Collaborate with the Leaves & Returns Coordinator to centralize support for students managing academic or personal challenges.
  • Adjudicate allegations of student code of conduct violations promptly and fairly
  • Conduct investigations while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Work with colleagues in other departments that manage complex and often confidential student matters, including but not limited to: Residential Life & Housing, The Deans' Office for Advising and Support, Title IX and Nondiscrimination, Community Safety, Health and Wellness, and the Office of the General Counsel.
  • Serve as an alternate in the Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) team, providing intake support and collaborating with various departments to address student matters.

Operations and Compliance

  • Conduct operations: review incident reports, assign charges, delegate cases to conduct administrators, track cases through resolution, and monitor completion of sanctions
  • Assist in compiling monthly student conduct reports to identify trends; work with colleagues to create preventative measures.
  • Perform periodic audits of completed conduct cases to ensure consistency of decision-making.
  • Contribute to the annual review of policies and procedures related to the Honor System and Code of Conduct, working closely with the Director and relevant stakeholders.
  • Complete good standing and other students' status checks for campus partners.
  • Assist with compliance reports as needed.

Training And Education

  • In coordination with the Director, develop and deliver training and resources for students, faculty, and staff on the Honor System, Code of Conduct, and incident reporting procedures.
  • Assist in creating mechanisms for ongoing education related to student conduct and support services.
  • Serve as a resource to students, faculty, and staff regarding questions on the Code of Conduct and Honor Code.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in campus committees and contribute to institutional initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs administration, or equivalent field/experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in student affairs, case management, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with best practices in student conduct and student support services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex policies.
  • Proficient in data management systems and technology, with experience in Advocate or Maxient preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.

This is a 12-month, in-person role. The position may require occasional evening and weekend hours, including addressing unpredictable and time-sensitive issues.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 annually

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
