The Behavioral Health SHOW Associate Director will work both independently and as a collaborative partner in a fast-paced environment.Street Health Outreach & Wellness Mobile Units (SHOW) mobile vans provide behavioral health resources, medical care, harm reduction, and material goods to New Yorkers who are unsheltered or living on the street. SHOW teams offer screening, brief intervention, and referrals to treatment for substance use disorders, including connection to medication-assisted treatment and additional support. Staff also offer hygiene kits and harm reduction supplies to patients, including naloxone kits.Under the direction of the Director of SUD Sub-Acute/Outpatient Services, this position will be responsible for successfully maintaining and growing H + H's SHOW initiative. This includes the oversight, direction, and coordination of day-to-day activities in addition to supporting the development and implementation of future SHOW vans. The Associate Director will be responsible for providing vision, leadership, guidance and follow-through for the SHOW teams.Specifically, the SHOW Associate Director will lead on all aspects of the behavioral health components of the program, including program administrative and clinical operations, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, collaboration with partnering agencies, staff development, program expansion, strategic partnerships, external communications, program evaluation, and quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives.General Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Provide Behavioral Health leadership, operations, and oversight of the SHOW vans
  • Ensure clinical practices comply with city, state, and federal regulations
  • Consult, collaborate, and guide SHOW teams to develop policies, procedures, and processes
  • Exhibit exemplary interdisciplinary skill sets needed to interface with SHOW van employees, Ambulatory Care (AmCare) team, H+H facilities, Central Office, and regulatory bodies
  • Collaborate with Central Office and AmCare on program goals and timelines
  • Arrange and attend meetings with regulatory agencies (e.g., DHS), safety net teams, and SHOW van teams and address any concerns that may arise
  • Represent OBH in the weekly SHOW meeting; provide updates and collaborate with partners to strategize solutions as needed
  • Conduct site visits to the SHOW vans, shadow and engage the SHOW teams, provide updates as appropriate
  • Spearhead behavioral health regulatory enhancements such as the Secondary Tier Syringe Access Program and ensure vans are in compliance with OOPP, harm reduction resource distribution, and other requirements as necessary
  • Optimize SHOW workflows, electronic medical record clinical documentation tools, billing processes, and reports to inform quality improvement and satisfy grant funding deliverables
  • Collect and compile SHOW data to submit to H+H and regulatory bodies as required
  • Provide support and guidance to SHOW teams on behavioral health documentation, including billing codes
  • Support the hiring process for SHOW staff as needed within the facilities
  • Support SHOW budget development and modification processes, collaborating with OBH Director of Fiscal Affairs
  • Assist with and coordinate trainings for SHOW employees
  • Support AmCare in launching of new SHOW vans
  • May lead and/or support additional BH/SUD initiatives as assigned by supervisor or departmental leadership
  • All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health discipline issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); and
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a health care setting or regulatory agency administration, with an emphasis on development and evaluation of mental health delivery services; one (1)\ year of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity.
Department Preferences
  • Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health discipline issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED);
  • A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Five years of full-time experience planning, developing and monitoring programs, systems and/or procedures in support of administrative management initiatives, three years of which must have been in a responsible managerial or supervisory capacity
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration
  • Clinical background strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of hospital organization, administration and standards, regulations and laws applicable to hospital operations
  • Knowledge of principles of business and personnel administration, management functions and support service functions and ability to direct and supervise personnel
  • Experience with crisis work, serious mental illness, and substance use
  • Familiarity with high-risk patients and providing culturally sensitive services in community settings
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in the clinical environment
  • Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills
