Job Description Position Purpose: Under the direction of the Chief Nurse Executive, and in collaboration with the Nursing Directors, provides communication, support, and coordination of nursing office services to meet departmental goals and priorities of patient care services in the nursing department. Summary of Duties: 1. Supports and oversees the day to day operational needs of the Nursing Office and department. 2.Oversees and manages the nursing office staff and their individual specific role responsibilities. 3.Coordinates and facilitates reports for all nursing leaders related to staffing effectiveness and budgets. 4.Interfaces/communicates with all nurse/departmental leaders to assist with staffing and scheduling as necessary based on daily staffing needs. 5.Coordinates, develops, and approves distribution of unit/departmental schedules and daily staffing plans for the department of nursing utilizing the Automated Nurse Staffing Operating System. 6.Maintains effective communication with unit leadership and staff to determine unit staffing needs. 7.Collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer, Nursing Directors, and the Finance Department in creating unit based and departmental budgets for the nursing service. 8.Works collaboratively with HR and Central Office to procure, manage, and terminate agency temp services in fulfillment of unit based and departmental staffing needs. 9.Works collaboratively with Lincoln HR to ensure all nursing files are in compliance with all regulatory and H+H requirements. 10.Maintains Quality Assurance standards. 11.Identifies personal learning needs and seeks opportunities for self-development. 12.Adheres to disaster/emergency protocols. 13.Assumes responsibility for the provision of a safe working environment for self, other staff members, patients and families. 14.Maintains customer service standards. 15.Knowledgeable and compliant with the Joint Commission regulatory standards and patient safety goals. 16.Adheres to and is a role model of ICARE standards, and holds all direct reports accountable for the same expectations. 17.Works collaboratively with all disciplines to facilitate quality improvement in all areas of the hospital that includes Join Commission preparedness activities as well as unit-based performance improvement projects. 18.Establishes, and implements standards of practice in all patient care areas, and ensures staff adherence to policy and procedure at all times. 19.Collaborates with Regulatory Affairs & Quality Management to ensure adherence to all accreditation standards and state and federal regulations. 20.Ensures compliance with Infection Control Policies and Procedures. 21.Attends required meetings and ensures pertinent information is disseminated. 22.Provides Chief Nurse Executive with necessary monitoring reports. 23.Plans, develops, and conducts training programs to maintain proficiency of staff the use of new equipment and methods. 24.Meets all compliance standards and requirements: annual physical, evaluation assessment with age competency, multi-star training, fire & safety trainings, etc. 25.Responsible for ongoing self-development by attending Network training sessions and other educational conferences/seminars relevant to area of specialty. 26.Performs additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital, Health, Public or Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health or a related discipline; and four (4) years of full-time, paid progressively responsible experience in hospital administration with an emphasis on the development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or 2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in #1 above; and five (5) years of full-time, paid experience, as described in #1 above.
