The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the overall recruitment strategies and matriculation of all new graduate students. The Associate Director will maintain adequate knowledge of admissions practices, admissions policies, academic programs and campus services. The Associate Director will ensure that all information supplied to prospective candidates and their families (when applicable) will be tendered in a sensitive and timely manner. Travel to recruitment events off-campus is required. Responsibilities will also include on-campus events and organizing candidate interviews. Throughout the recruitment process, the Associate Director will interact with prospective candidates through the stages of inquiry, application, decision, deposit, and matriculation, as well as, other units of the LIU Admissions Office.
The Associate Director reports directly to the Director of Graduate Admissions and the Assistant Vice President of Admissions.
· Develop and implement new recruitment strategies/initiatives and partnerships with feeder schools.
· Maintain and strengthen existing relationships with feeder schools.
· Review candidate transcripts and application materials to prepare admissions files for review.
· Create, review and update recruitment tools as necessary.
· Organize and host events (in-person or virtual) for prospective students.
· Establish and maintain recruitment schedules and events for local and national markets.
· Serve as an admissions liaison to various high schools and recruitment organizations.
· Timely communication with all prospective inquiries and applicants.
· Organize and host admissions interviews.
· Provide guidance to all candidates through the stages of decision, deposit, matriculation, and ensure all admissions requirements have been satisfied.
· Other duties as assigned by the Director of Graduate Admissions and the Assistant Vice President of Admissions.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
· 3-5 years' experience in college admissions, recruitment or marketing; student development and/or counseling experience; familiarity with and understanding of educational systems
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong customer service skills and experience; understanding of the dynamic modes of communication with students and parents (i.e.; use of technology and social networking vs. traditional use of email, phone campaigns and letter campaigns)
· Knowledge of CAS (centralized application service), CRM, Image Now and People Soft preferred.
· Ability to handle multiple assignments and responsibilities at the same time.
· Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and work with diverse populations.
· Represent LIU at fairs, open houses, and other recruitment events; overnight travel is required.
· Familiarity with major metropolitan U.S. markets.
· Creativity, team-oriented work ethic; ability to work autonomously and with direction; flexibility for work schedules that may include evenings and weekends
