Your new role Due to our significant growth, we are expanding our investment capabilities in New York, focusing on Infrastructure, Property, Private Credit and Private Equity. As an Associate Director, ESG and Stewardship, you will be ensuring the integration of material ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) issues into the Fund's investment portfolio. You will be working with the internal investment teams in incorporating ESG issues into valuations and providing commentary on ESG issues, taking a lead and oversight role on some components. This is a newly created position, that is based on-site at 1251 Avenues of the Americas, with a hybrid work schedule; and will report to the Director, ESG and Stewardship, who is also based in New York. Key responsibilities
  • Ensure material ESG issues are incorporated into the Fund's investment programs.
  • Work closely with internal investment teams in incorporating ESG issues into valuations and providing commentary on ESG issues.
  • Take a lead role in the ownership program (including engagement) with investee companies (boards or senior management).
  • Support the Fund to meets its obligations including reporting and responsibilities of the various initiatives to which it is a signatory.
  • Collaborate with the Fund's investor groups in achieving its ESG objectives.
  • Support the development of due diligence and ownership frameworks, as well as ESG and Stewardship policies for the Fund.
What we're looking for
  • 6+ years' experience within financial services or a consulting firm, or similar, with experience in responsible investment, corporate governance, legal, sustainability and/or engineering fields
  • Experience in the application of ESG issues to investing.
  • Exposure to unlisted asset classes such as infrastructure, private equity or private credit.
  • Deals background, with experience in EHS / ESG / WHS due diligence desired.
  • Demonstrated sound commercial judgement and a results orientation.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills.
  • Ability to effectively and comfortably communicate with senior investors and stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare reports, analyze information and draw conclusions / recommendations.

Pay transparency notice The compensation range for this position is $300,000 to $360,000 (this is based on full-time hours, located in New York City). The pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience and refers to the amount AustralianSuper is willing to pay at the time of posting.
