This includes working independently or collaboratively, as needed, with the Director and the Equal Opportunity Specialist to ensure fair and respectful treatment of the University's students and employees consistent with St. John's mission, values and non-discrimination policies, and in accordance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. This position will investigate and resolve complaints of bias, discrimination, sexual misconduct and other inappropriate conduct by employees; develop and implement programs to promote inclusion; design and deliver training programs; and monitor the external legal environment to develop and update HR policies.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Investigations
- Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations of complaints involving allegations of bias, discrimination, sexual misconduct and other workplace misconduct.
- Manage all aspects of investigations, including intake, interviews, evidence review, documentation, analysis, drafting comprehensive investigative reports, making recommendations for appropriate resolution, and monitoring results.
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files and records.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, the Office of General Counsel, and other partners to ensure appropriate follow-up and resolution.
- Provide guidance to managers to address issues where potential EEO implications may arise.
- Serve as a Title IX investigator for the institution.
Training, Policy, And Compliance
- Support the Director in interpreting and applying relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies.
- Assist in the development and periodic review of policies, procedures, and training materials related to EEO, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, and other workplace conduct.
- In coordination with the Director, develop and deliver training to the University community (employees, students and faculty) on EEO and workplace conduct topics as needed.
- Continually review training content to ensure it meets the needs of the University and is current with respect to legal and/or internal policy changes.
- Monitor training participation levels and evaluate participant feedback to continually improve program content and delivery.
- Work with Director to implement and manage inclusionary initiatives throughout HR.
- Support University-wide inclusion efforts.
Strategic Support
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Director on emerging trends, risk areas, and process improvements related to the Equal Opportunity & Compliance team.
- Provide leadership coverage in the Director's absence, including case oversight, staff support, and participation in key meetings or initiatives.
- Participate in HR and University committees and activities as needed.
- Track, analyze, and interpret case data to identify patterns, assess effectiveness of interventions, and inform policy and training needs.
- Assist in preparing internal and external data reports for senior leadership, institutional stakeholders, or regulatory agencies.

- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant employment laws.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills (writing sample and training demonstration may be requested).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility, follow-through and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team is important.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires you to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, move about, sit, to carry work and use controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, communicate.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This role may be eligible for hybrid/remote work 1-2 days per week after a 3-month orientation period, with the understanding that the person in role will be required to report to campus for trainings, workshops, and other work-related meetings or events as determined by business needs or other circumstances.Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; JD or related master's degree strongly preferred.
- 2-5 years' experience conducting workplace investigations or managing EEO-related matters.
- Professional experience in the higher education sector a plus.
