Associate Director / Director – Telecom

Overview of the Role – Associate Director / Director – Digital Engineering

Location: USA / New Jersey

Reporting to: Head of Digital Engineering

Role Description:
  • Provide technical guidance to the team and own program delivery.

Responsibilities include project planning, execution, control, closure, team creation, and cost-effective delivery.

Manage client relationships through ongoing meetings and reviews to ensure alignment with KPIs.

Manage a team of developers, designers, and testers, driving performance, resource planning, capacity planning, and performance appraisals.

  • Oversee delivery of initiatives focused on data management, Telecom OSS/BSS solutions, portfolio management, and reporting, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.

Manage projects in an agile environment, ensuring quality within tight deadlines.

Handle risk management, maintain risk documentation, and mitigation plans.

Engage with clients to identify needs, evaluate solutions, and manage day-to-day interactions, building trust and securing project extensions.

Foster collaboration across departments, oversee architecture design and review, and publish project metrics and status reports.

Recruit, mentor, and oversee a skilled development team, enforcing high-quality development practices, secure coding standards, and continuous improvement through DevOps practices.

Act as an escalation point and communicate technical solutions effectively to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Abilities:

Technical Skills:

  • Experience in Network IT and Telecommunications, especially OSS/BSS.
  • 20+ years in developing microservices-based platforms/applications using Java/Node, React/Angular, RDBMS/NoSQL, and AWS/GCP.
  • B.E./B.Tech in Electronics/Computer Science with 14+ years of relevant experience, including at least 10 years in program management within IT services in the telecom sector.
  • Strong grasp of new technologies, web application development, Java application stacks, and JavaScript frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with Scrum methodology.

  • Coach and motivate the team, facilitate adoption of modern development techniques, and identify training needs.
  • Act as a process owner, suggest process improvements, and support productivity enhancements.
