The Crown Publishing Group is seeking an art director or associate art director to help manage the jacket design process for titles across the Crown, Crown Currency, and Storehouse Voices imprints. These imprints publish a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction.Job description:Design a wide range of book jackets and covers from conception to final productionProject manage staff and freelancersPartner with the creative director, editors, and publishers to manage multiple projects throughout the approval processPrepares jacket/cover mechanicals - from creation (setting up templates, designing layout, and routing within deadlines) to final production (gathering files for printer; marking-up for Production; and checking for color before final proofing).Requirements:Minimum of 5 years of experience in publishing or similar industryBroad knowledge of typography, illustration, and photographyAbility to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWorking collaboratively with all members of the team from concept to finishProficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator)The salary or salary range for this position at the Associate Director level is $84,000 to $89,000. The salary or salary range for this position at the Director level is $90,000 to $105,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.This is a hybrid position that will require coming into the New York city office 2-3 days a week.
