OverviewABOUT US: Founded in 1993, Bayview Asset Management is an investment management firm focused on investments in mortgage and consumer credit, including whole loans, asset-backed securities, mortgage servicing rights, and other credit-related assets. POSITION SUMMARY: The candidate will be joining the Research Team at Bayview Asset Management, specializing in Agency/Non-Agency mortgage and Home Equity Loan products. This role bridges portfolio management (PM) and research, delivering cutting-edge insights to drive investment decisions. The candidate will develop and implement models, analyze sector trends, and communicate complex findings effectively to diverse stakeholders. A strong finance background, advanced data and modeling expertise, excellent communication skills and a robust work ethic are critical for success in this role. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct in-depth research and perform analysis of agency/non-agency mortgage products, home equity loan products, and/or other structured credit assets.
  • Build and refine statistical models to forecast performance/risks under varying economic scenarios.
  • Collaborate closely with PMs and researchers to align model insights with investment strategies.
  • Evaluate trends in borrower and collateral performance, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain processes for data management, surveillance, and quality assurance of internal and external datasets.
  • Provide quantitative insights to support pricing, hedging, and portfolio risk management.
  • Deliver high-quality presentations and reports, translating complex analyses into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Perform ad-hoc quantitative and qualitative analysis to address time-sensitive investment questions.
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of agency/non-agency mortgage products, Home Equity Loan products, or other credit products.
  • Expertise in financial modeling and statistical analysis (regression and time-series models).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and strong working knowledge of SQL and databases.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to synthesize technical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience in presenting to PMs and senior management.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, working independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to ethical conduct.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field with a high GPA from a top-rated institution.
  • 2-4 years of experience in mortgage research, credit analytics, or a similar role at a buyside or sell-side firm.
Compensation and location:
  • This is an onsite role and will be based in Bayview's New York, NY office.
  • Base compensation is expected to be $135-160k with the opportunity for performance-based bonus.
