Location : Northwest State Community College - Main Campus, OH Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 00191 Department: STEM & Industrial Technologies Opening Date: 05/06/2025 GENERAL PURPOSE The Associate Dean is responsible for working in collaboration with the division dean in the management and direction of the division and its functions. Ensures student success while working closely with the division dean through program development, recruitment and completion efforts, budget development and management, and faculty development and evaluation. The associate dean will coordinate these responsibilities with the College as a whole so as to support the mission of NSCC. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES A. Work collaboratively with the division dean to provide leadership for all instructional programs, essential instructional support services, and program evaluations for the Science, Technology, Engineering Tech, Mathematics & Industrial Technologies Division. 1. Assist with student registration and orientation as necessary. 2. Provide insight and guidance to the division dean regarding the class schedule on a semester basis. 3. Provide academic counseling to students, as needed. 4. Direct the faculty in course and curriculum development, program assessment and program evaluation. 5. Assist the division faculty in the development of both credit and non-credit courses to meet the needs of the students and community. B. As division leadership, actively participate in the development and implementation of academic policies and procedures. 1. Work in conjunction with the division dean on administering the department within the guidelines of college policies, procedures, and the Professional Collective Bargaining Agreement. C. In collaboration with the division dean, guide the planning and implementation of instructional staff development programs and activities. 1. Evaluate faculty. 2. Lead division assessment efforts. D. Collaborate with the division dean in the planning and preparation for approval of the departmental annual budget. E. Coordinate responsibilities with the College as a whole to promote and fulfill the mission. 1. Attend administrative meetings of the College. 2. Assist the division dean with seeking and managing grant opportunities appropriate for the division. F. Other similar duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience:
  • A Master's degree required, preferably in a natural science, mathematics, engineering, engineering technologies, or a related field.
  • A Bachelor's degree with licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role and higher education experience is required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the college level and business/industry experience is preferred.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be familiar with all aspects of Community College Academics, programs, faculty and employee development, and accreditation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills working with students, employees, and the public in an administrative capacity.
  • Knowledge of management and administrative principles and practices.
  • Expertise in managing a division that is research based and results driven. Ability to gather and analyze statistical data.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), motivational, interpersonal, and team building skills required.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, tact, and have the ability to foster cooperation and collaboration and have the ability to be creative and innovative in administering program and services and to motivate employees to work harmoniously in a complex organizational structure.
