Job Description

Under the direction of the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations, the AssociateAthletic Director for Athletic Communications is responsible for all facets of the AthleticDepartments communication office. This position is responsible for generating media coverage,monitoring and managing adverse media and crafting and integrating public relations strategiesfor Boston College Athletics. As a member of the athletic department Senior Staff, the incumbentserves as the general spokesperson for the athletic department, along with the Athletic Directorand works closely with the Director of the Office of News and Public Affairs at Boston College.The position develops and implements a comprehensive athletics communications and mediarelations plan including electronic communications, department and team social media strategiesand engagement, athletics website, printed materials, coach's shows, blogs, vlogs, videos andstatistical reports.Primary Responsibilities: Direct responsibility for overall and daily operation of Athletic Communications Create and execute planning and implementation of entire media relations and socialmedia strategies across all platforms Cultivate relationships with local and regional media outlets for the overall promotion ofBC Athletics Promotes sports teams, coaches, and student-athletes with an emphasis on a consistentand positive image Utilize media outlets to cultivate ticket sales and marketing initiativesPosition Details:Department: 011002 - Media RelationsPosition: 00000917 - Associate Athletic Director/Business Operations ***Grade: 4TH

Salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of full-time professional experience in public affairs, media relations,media, marketing and/or market research to include a minimum of 2 years at the supervisorylevel.
  • Expert knowledge of University communication objectives and ability to translate them intoeffective communication and media campaigns
  • Excellent collaboration and listening skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and self-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
