Job Description :
Description The Assistive Technology Specialist will maintain knowledge about assistive technology services, equipment, and devices through research and professional development to provide high-quality assistive technology assessments, demonstrations, training events, public awareness, funding and technical assistance. Essential Functions:
  • Include the customer in the development of assistive technology goals.
  • Serve as a support coordinator by connecting the customer to needed resources.
  • Demonstrate a variety of assistive technology to empower a customer to make an informed decision on what type of assistive technology will ameliorate her or his needs.
  • Advocate with person to other agencies, when necessary.
  • Ensure the dignity and rights of individuals is evident in all training and communications.
Additional Job Duties:
  • Make presentations to public groups about assistive technology and related services as requested.
  • Able to attend professional development events.
  • Be aware of customer needs and provide quality customer service.
  • Perform all job duties as assigned by the Assistive Technology Director, Assistive Technology Coordinator, Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, and the President/Chief Executive Officer.
Position Requirements
  • Must have technical aptitude in order to learn and demonstrate new concepts and technology as they become available.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have knowledge of Independent Living Philosophy.
  • Must have electronic communication, data processing, and cloud database skills.
  • Must meet the eligibility requirements of the auto insurance company providing coverage for OCCK vehicles or have access to transportation.
  • An associate degree is preferred.
