Recruitment range is $55,823.00 - $76,756.00

This position serves as the Assistant Unit Manager within the Wilmington Unit Office, supporting operations across New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender Counties. In addition to providing leadership and direction in the absence of the Unit Manager, this role offers casework supervision and client services coverage for vacant caseloads when needed.

Key responsibilities include assisting with the management of unit operations, including Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and Independent Living (IL) caseload and budget oversight, ensuring compliance with standards and indicators, supporting personnel functions, coordinating staff training and development, conducting casework reviews, and offering consultation and technical guidance to counseling staff. The position may also be assigned special projects by the Unit Manager to address specific rehabilitation service needs. Regular travel throughout the service area is required.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Vital to the provision of supervision for VR and IL casework and policy procedures.

  • Guidance and supervision to staff will be provided as necessary in order to assist staff in transitioning consumers through the employment and independent living processes.

  • Directly involved with community partners in order to enhance employment/independent living opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

  • Assist with onboarding, coaching, and training of newly hired counselors.

  • Demonstrated expertise in rehabilitation counseling, including casework methodologies and techniques that support individualized service planning.
  • Strong working knowledge of local community resources, employment services, and labor market trends relevant to vocational rehabilitation planning
  • Direct experience providing services to people with disabilities in educational, clinical, or community-based environments.

Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or counseling from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience as a rehabilitation counselorand successful completion of agency requirements for independent counselor status;ORcurrent certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) andtwo years of experience as a rehabilitation counselorand successful completion of the agency s requirements for independent counselor status;ORan equivalent combination of education and experience.
