The Colonie Youth Center has an opening for a qualified Toddler Assistant Teacher to work in a daycare center located at the Shaker Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Colonie, New York. The center has five classrooms and will serve approximately 66 children.Do not wait to apply after reading this description a high application volume is expected for this opportunity.Job Responsibilities:· Collaborate with classroom teacher to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for a Toddler classroom.· Assist classroom teacher with all aspects of daily routine and programming.· Supervising play and learning activities· Engaging with children in play· Facilitate learning through play and other activities, which support growth in all developmental domains.· Lead small and whole group activities.· Prepare supplies and the environment for activities.· Assist children with self-care activities, such as using the bathroom and changing clothes.· Assist individual children who experience difficulty in the group.· Assist with meals and snacks- facilitating family- style dining at mealtimes.· Assume the teacher's duties temporarily, when trained, if the teacher should become ill or must leave the classroom for any reason.· Build and maintain professional relationships with parents and families.· Knowledgeable of OCFS regulations.· Complete 15 hours of professional development/ training within the first 6 months of employment, and 30 hours of professional development/ trainings every 2 years, as mandated by The Office of Children and Family Services.· Attend monthly required staff meetings.· Assist teachers and director in school programs and events.· Help maintain a clean and welcoming environment for all students and families.· Observe/maintain confidentiality.*QUALIFICATIONS *· High school diploma or GED (minimum), CDA or AAS in ECE(preferable).· Have at minimum 1 year experience working with young children.· Be dependable, flexible and professional.· Be sensitive to all children's needs.· Meet the requirements of the licensing agency, including state and federal background checks, fingerprinting and physicals.*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE *· High school diploma or GED (minimum), CDA or AAS in ECE(preferable).· Have at minimum 1 year experience working with young children.*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT *· Lifting· Sitting on the classroom floor.· Daily cleaning and other maintenance of the classroom.· Frequent diapering and toilet training.Job Type: Full-timePay: $17.00 per hourBenefits:* Employee discount* Life insurance* Paid time off* Referral program* Retirement planSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Monday to Friday* No nights* No weekendsExperience:* Toddler care: 1 year (Required)Work Location: In person
