Job Description :

Parsec, LLC is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Assistant Terminal Manager to support and help lead operations at our Jacksonville intermodal terminal. This role is essential to maintaining operational efficiency, safety compliance, and high service levels for our rail and transportation partners. The Assistant Terminal Manager will oversee yard and ramp activities, supervise frontline and supervisory staff, and act as the Terminal Manager when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily ramp, de-ramp, yard flow, and gate processing activities.
  • Ensure freight movement is timely and in coordination with railroads and trucking partners.
  • Monitor performance metrics (e.g., LPMH, securement compliance), and report potential service failures to NS and internal leadership.
  • Attend planning meetings with NS and communicate operational concerns proactively.
  • Analyze yard utilization and identify opportunities for workflow improvement.

Leadership & Supervision

  • Direct and support supervisors and frontline employees to meet productivity and safety standards.
  • Manage shift scheduling, vacation/absence coverage, and labor allocation.
  • Address employee conduct, administer corrective actions, and uphold Parsec's safety culture.
  • Serve as acting Terminal Manager during absences or as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

  • Lead and participate in daily safety briefings and enforce adherence to Parsec's safety policies.
  • Conduct and track compliance audits (e.g., blindside, pin, securement).
  • Investigate all accidents/injuries within 2–4 hours and complete reports in Origami.
  • Monitor and coach employees based on safety performance and Samsara video reviews.
  • Review Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs) and report issues to maintenance.

Schedule & Availability

  • Work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational demands.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to urgent issues in a timely manner.
  • Be accessible via company-provided phone and return to the terminal when needed.

Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of experience in intermodal, logistics, or rail operations, with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of yard safety standards and container handling procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and terminal/yard management systems.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
