Your Role as a Assistant Teacher
  • Plan and Deliver Engaging InstructionCollaborate with the Head Teacher to design and implement lessons in reading, math, and two additional subjects that meet curriculum standards and foster student growth across academic areas.
  • Develop and Monitor Individualized GoalsSupport individual and group learning by implementing differentiated instruction, tracking student progress, and contributing to narrative reports, report cards, and monthly academic updates.
  • Collaborate Across Educational TeamsWork in close partnership with the Head Teacher, teaching teams, and school leadership to align instruction, share insights, and ensure a cohesive, supportive educational environment.
  • Implement Behavior and Classroom Management StrategiesEstablish consistent routines and reinforce classroom rules. Apply behavior management strategies to create a structured, respectful, and inclusive space where all students can thrive.
  • Engage and Support FamiliesAssist in maintaining open lines of communication with families through monthly letters for reading and math groups, and participation in Curriculum Night and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Advocate for Student NeedsSubstitute for the Head Teacher when needed and confidently lead classroom instruction. Support student assessment and contribute to records that help drive individualized learning goals.
  • Foster a Positive Learning EnvironmentBring your own interests and strengths to the classroom to enrich the learning experience. Help maintain a well-organized and welcoming environment through materials prep, cleanup, and collaborative daily routines.
Qualifications:
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • A genuine passion for working with children, along with patience and compassion.
Preferred/Nice to have:
  • Experience working with children with special needs or autism through volunteer work, employment, or other relevant experiences.
