Assistant Research Scientist II

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Assistant Research Scientist position for the Molecular Imaging and Neuropathology (MIND) Area. This position involves processing and analysis of brain imaging data - mainly, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - in a psychiatric brain imaging laboratory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Multiple stages of brain image data processing, some using graphical user interfaces (GUIs) and some with command-line scripting
  • Downloading data from PET and MRI centers into the laboratory database and managing the database to insure data are intact and available
  • Quality control of imaging data
  • Managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously; maintaining excellent communication with multiple investigators regarding status of ongoing projects
  • Assisting in preparation of methods, results, tables and figures for publications and presentations using programs including Excel, SPSS, PowerPoint, Keynote and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, ideally in a relevant field such as biomedical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or neuroscience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least (1) year of experience with data processing of functional and structural MRI and/or PET imaging data preferred.
