The Project Assistant is responsible for assisting Department Managers and Directors in an environmental laboratory with their assigned clients, projects, and daily tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Be in the office during normal business hours (M-F, 8-5) to take client calls, and after hours as needed to complete required tasks. Also to be available by phone after hours and weekends to help deal with emergencies.
· Help manage day-to-day client interaction and client expectations.
· Assist with generation of client deliverables (analytical report, EDD, etc.) including review and delivery (verify completeness and contract compliance).
· Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
· Ensure that client issues are resolved and/or escalated in a timely fashion.
· Assist the client in developing sampling strategies and suggesting alternatives to help the client meet their project goals.
· Follow up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
· Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
· Build a knowledge base of each client's business, organization, and objectives.
· Identify specific proposal opportunities and prepare proposals or assist with proposal preparations.
· Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
· Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Education
Knowledge
· Previous Project Management experience is preferred.
· Environmental laboratory experience and/or experience working with environmental consulting/engineering firms is an advantage.
· Knowledge of computers, spreadsheets, and databases (LIMS).
· Knowledge of environmental industry requirements.

· Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in front of groups, over the telephone, in meetings, and training sessions.
· Mobility sufficient to safely move in an environmental laboratory.
· Dexterity sufficient to safely operate office equipment including computers and specialized tools and equipment utilized in the course of work.
· Strength sufficient to safely lift and carry sample containers, office supplies, materials, equipment, and other related materials weighing up to 10 pounds.
· Endurance sufficient to stand and bend from the waist for longs periods; maintain efficiency throughout entire shift.
