Assistant Project ManagerLocation: Alsip, ILPay Range: $55,000 – $80,000 (based on experience)Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role:Our client, a well-established contractor in the utility and civil construction space, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support their growing team. This is a newly created role designed to assist Project Managers in all phases of construction project execution—from preconstruction through closeout. Ideal for someone early in their construction management career, this role offers a strong foundation in both office coordination and occasional field support.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Project Managers in planning, estimating, scheduling, and project coordination

• Support preconstruction activities including takeoffs, jobsite visits, and proposal preparation

• Manage project documentation including submittals, drawings, specifications, and permits

• Track material lead times and procurement status

• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, design consultants, utility companies, and local municipalities

• Attend jobsite and coordination meetings; document action items and site changes

• Help manage submittals, POs, change orders, and other project control documents using project management software

• Assist with project closeout documentation and city approvals

• Occasionally support field operations (approx. 20% of time), helping superintendents with equipment, logistics, and subcontractor communication

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred

• 0–3 years of experience in construction or utility/civil infrastructure projects

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Familiarity with submittals, change orders, and document control processes

• Some field experience or exposure is a plus

• Willingness to be onsite occasionally as needed
