Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctoral degree (upon appointment) in nutrition or a related scientific field.

Position Summary

POSITION: Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Bone Health (45% Research, 50% Teaching, 5% Service), 9-month academic year tenure-track appointment in the Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop a nationally recognized and externally-funded program in the area of clinical or translational bone health.
  • Direct and support research programs of PhD and MS-level students.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition.
  • Engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary research with faculty in Nutritional Sciences, the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and other UGA departments/colleges.
  • Contribute to activities that serve the department, college, university, the public and the profession.
Additional Requirements

To be considered for the position of Assistant Professor, the applicant must hold an earned doctoral degree (upon appointment) in nutrition or a related scientific field. The applicant must have an academic background in the science of nutrition and have demonstrated productivity in bone-related research in health and/or disease. The applicant should have demonstrated scholarly competence and research productivity, or the potential for such, and show evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Candidates with at least two years of post-doctoral research experience are preferred, and at least one year of experience conducting clinical trials is desirable. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Candidates that demonstrate evidence of preparation and submission of external research grants are also preferred.
