JOB PURPOSE:
Instructs and facilitates a meaningful and effective learning experience of the course competencies in the classroom, fieldwork, and laboratory settings. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the NTU faculty contract.
This position description provides a general overview of the nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, and abilities required. It is not exhaustive of all activities, duties, or responsibilities associated with the role. This position requires expertise in mechanical engineering and teaching experience.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Selects, prepares, and develops a new Bachelor of Science curriculum in Environmental Engineering in collaboration with faculty and advisory board, including course outlines and instructional materials. Orders course books and materials.Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Encourages student success.Prepares lesson plans incorporating varied instructional techniques, multimedia, and strategies tailored to meet students' educational, social, and emotional needs.Instructs students in the field of study.Maintains and submits attendance reports.Assists students with up-to-date information on degrees or certificates within their educational program.Maintains accurate files on each advisee and refers students to appropriate university services as needed.Organizes and supervises student work in shops, fields, or laboratories.Designs assessments and evaluates student achievement.Ensures safety precautions are followed to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities.Provides performance assessments and feedback.Maintains inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies.Evaluates student progress regularly, including grades and reports.Participates in community service initiatives and projects involving students.Prepares and submits accurate and timely reports as required.Contributes to program reviews and accreditation processes regarding student achievement and outcomes.Assists in recruiting and retaining students.Conducts research in the field of study.Identifies grant opportunities and prepares proposals.May serve as an advisor to student clubs.Holds regular office hours to support students.Assists students in obtaining internships.Collaborates with colleagues to share knowledge and experience.Attends faculty meetings, educational committees, and other relevant meetings.Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.Performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises students during laboratory work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in Environmental Engineering.
- Two years of teaching experience in the field.
- Maintains current educational competencies.
- Demonstrates professional excellence, community service, and/or publication record.
- Valid and clean state driver's license.
- Ability to pass background checks with no felonies or child abuse/neglect history.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D./Terminal degree in Environmental Engineering.
- Three years of teaching experience.
- Maintains current educational competencies.
- Demonstrates professional excellence, community service, and/or publication record.
- Valid and clean state driver's license.
- Ability to pass background checks with no felonies or child abuse/neglect history.
