Friends University invites applications for a full-time Open Rank, Tenure Track Faculty member in the Master of Science in Family Therapy Program, Wichita Campus, with duties beginning fall of 2025. This position is a 9-month faculty appointment and reports to the Chair of the Marriage and Family Therapy Division, Dr. Christopher M. Habben. The ideal candidate will hold a Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related field with successful teaching experience, be license-eligible as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Kansas and be an AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate. The university desires to hire an individual who will move into the 12-month role of Clinical Director in the future.

The Master of Science in Family Therapy (MSFT) program began in Wichita in 1986 as one of the first of two masters degree programs to launch Friends University into graduate education and expanded to include a delivery site in the greater Kansas City area in 1996. The MSFT degree is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marital and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) with the most recent accreditation renewal completed in 2018. (The MSFT Program in Wichita has completed all steps toward reaccreditation including a virtual site visit by COAMFTE in 2025).
EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
The person selected for this position will receive a 9-month contract to fulfill the duties of a core faculty member for the Wichita program. MSFT faculty outcomes include meeting University faculty role expectations for teaching, scholarship, and service, reflecting interpersonal competency in the interaction with the program students, colleagues and stakeholders, making contribution to engaging diversity through instruction, supervision, and program development, and aiding the MSFT program effectiveness, and advancing the practice and profession of MFT. Ideally, this candidate will consider preparing to serve a future role 12-month position as the program Clinical Director.
Assignments in teaching are based upon the candidates expertise, credentials and the divisions specific curricular needs. In addition to teaching, the candidate will provide clinical supervision of students. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in recruiting prospective students for the Master of Science in Family Therapy program.
As a core faculty member, the successful candidate will play a key role in student mentoring and advising. This program prioritizes working in a collaborative team environment.
