Assistant General Manager / Plant Manager

Position Overview

The Assistant General Manager / Plant Manager is responsible for partnering with the General Manager of Manufacturing to lead initiatives that drive operational excellence, financial performance, safety, and quality throughout a high-performance manufacturing facility. This role plays a key part in implementing Lean strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the GM of Manufacturing to execute initiatives related to operational efficiency, safety, quality, and financial results.
  • Ensure alignment of initiatives with corporate operating plans, cost standards, and financial forecasts; develop metrics to track delivery of these goals.
  • Apply Lean principles to both operations and accounting processes to support continuous improvement and improved financial visibility.
  • Provide leadership in challenging conventional processes, implementing performance metrics, and developing a workforce skilled in Lean tools and practices.
  • Identify, evaluate, and lead improvement projects in key performance areas: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Financial performance.
  • Manage multiple projects and shifting priorities while maintaining alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead development and execution of the annual manufacturing budget in collaboration with GM Manufacturing.
  • Track monthly progress against plan and budget, and identify cost-saving opportunities across production operations.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing principles with measurable outcomes.
  • Experience overseeing large-scale manufacturing projects, budgets, and full P&L responsibility.
  • Proven leadership in industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Strong background in driving continuous improvement and waste reduction.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of executing strategic business plans and achieving operational goals.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong foundation in math, business principles, and data analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, make data-driven decisions, and adapt to dynamic business conditions.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities, with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Clear, candid communication style and willingness to challenge assumptions and decision-making when necessary.
  • Self-starter with the initiative to identify improvement opportunities and take ownership of solutions.
