Assistant Plant Manager Job Description (Monday – Friday 7am-3:30pm)

This role will report to the Plant Manager and assist them in the overall operation of the facility, strategy development, and in providing functional direction to supervisors. The Assistant Plant Manager will get involved in production processes, including necessary troubleshooting and project improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct all activities related to operations and production in accordance with the business plan and the strategic goals of the Company.
- Collaborates with Plant Manager and sets strategic goals and vision for the site, as well as short- and long-term production goals
- Leading and coordinating the activities of all supervisors and hourly associates. Including daily production, equipment needs, raw material and finished goods put away.
- Directs and manages the overall production plan for the operation, including the day-to-day operations that come with implementation
- Collaborates with supervisors on the determination of materials, space, equipment and personnel needs as well as the development and implementation of processes, procedures, assignment and execution of functional responsibilities.
- Ensure all employees on the shift are following established procedures, managing performance, and presenting corrective action as needed.
- Train employees in company policies and procedures.
- Manage the safety on the shift to ensure no accidents or injuries occur. If needed, conduct safety investigations regarding work-related incidents and injuries.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are met and the production area is maintained in a neat and organized manner.
- Ensure the security of the facility is maintained during the shift.
- Perform additional tasks and projects assigned.
Qualifications
- Manufacturing Supervision experience: 5 years (Required)
- Experience with a BMS (Business management system (SAP, AS400, NetSuite etc...) a plus.
- Ability to effectively manage a staff of 2 supervisors and 40-50 employees.
- Should possess familiarity with production equipment and have an intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to write SOP's, performance reviews, recommend performance improvement plans and the ability to communicate department goals, objectives, and processes with employees.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization and possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to multiple tasks and work under pressure, possessing an exceptional sense of urgency.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, troubleshoot issues, schedule, organize, coordinate, train, and prepare operating procedures with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
- Move products, supplies, and boxes up to 50 lbs.
- Sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling.
