OverviewResponsible for developing and deploying predictive models, advanced analytics, and advanced statistical techniques and solutions that deliver actionable insights to drive innovation and decision-making across the organization. Contributes to developing strategic priorities, shapes analytical approaches, ensures model quality and performance, and supports integration into decision-making processes.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the day-to-day efforts of data science team members and assist in planning deliverablesPromote advanced model development, including versioning, testing, novel approaches, and reproducibility to solve complex business problemsCalibrates cross-functionally to leverage data actionable insights that align with the organization's strategic objectivesTranslates complex data into understandable insights, and drive initiatives that enhance our data capabilities and contribute to the strategic goals of the organizationResponsible for taking an active role managing project timelines, ensuring the successful execution of projects; communicate project needs and progress to stakeholders and facilitate technical support as neededSupports research and fosters a culture of innovation and experimentation of modeling techniquesPartners with the Manager to align resources, resolve technical challenges, and ensure model development stays on trackPromote understanding of ethical modeling principles and data science best practices across the departmentDevelops and coaches team members supporting their development and performance while fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement and serves as mentor to early-career data scientists and help advance their analytical and technical skills; review junior team members' model development, analysis, and documentationStay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science and analyticsCoordinates with model output users to ensure use aligns with approved and appropriate use casesSupports Model Risk Management, Fair Lending, and Machine Learning Operations submissions which enable models to be deployed into productionCollaborate with Model stakeholders to understand the desirable business impact of a model and assist the team to design strategies that aligns with that goal with realistic results and within expected restraints from Model Risk Management and Fair LendingQualificationsBachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of training, education and experienceCollege/university degree and 2+ years work experience; 1+ years of supervisory experienceUnderstanding of core data science principles, and model building techniques enabling effective support and mentorship for team members in project executionAbility to oversee the production of regular reports and dashboards that visualize data science insights, ensuring alignment with business needsAbility to assist data scientists with troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges or data discrepancies encountered in their analysesFamiliarity with data documentation and visualization tools, empowering the team in creating impactful presentations and reports that communicate findings effectivelyBasic leadership abilities to guide team members in their daily tasks and responsibilitiesProject management skills and skill in managing daily activities, ensuring work is completed efficiently and on timeEffective communication skills for conveying instructions and performance expectations to the teamAbility to provide constructive feedback and coaching to enhance team performanceAbility to motivate team members to achieve work goals and maintain high moraleProficiency in addressing issues as they arise, ensuring smooth operational continuityDesired Qualification(s)Master's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of training, education and experienceHours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PMLocation: 820 Follin Lane, Vienna, VA 22180About UsNavy Federal provides much more than a job.
