The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Law Division, seeks an Assistant General Counsel. Under the supervision of the General Counsel, the attorney interne will conduct various legal tasks, including:

  • Reviewing and revising contract documents and communicating procurement requirements.
  • Providing litigation support and analyzing commercial claims.
  • Responding to the public under FOIL and coordinating responses with public relations.
  • Evaluating conflicts of interest and providing legal guidance.
  • Reviewing real property issues, including condemnation proceedings, leases, and land use actions.
  • Preparing funding and security agreements for OMB review and ensuring security interests.
  • Assisting with procurement appeals and decisions.
  • Supporting labor relations and employment issues.
  • Researching laws, rules, and regulations for legal interpretation.

    • Authorization to work in the U.S. is required; sponsorship is not provided.

    Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited U.S. law school or admission to the NY State Bar.

    Preferred Skills: Organized, able to multi-task, excellent communication, proficient with Microsoft Office.

    Salary range: $70,228.00 – $80,763.00. NYC residency is not required. The city is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity.
