Assistant General Counsel

A leading real estate development and investment firm is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel to support its growing legal function. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a vertically integrated organization overseeing all aspects of real estate development across the Sun Belt.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate real estate, financing, construction, and vendor contracts
- Advise on land use, entitlements, zoning, and permitting matters
- Oversee litigation and coordinate with outside counsel
- Ensure legal compliance across operations and manage risk
- Collaborate with internal teams to align legal strategies with business objectives
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing
- 6+ years of legal experience, ideally in real estate or finance law
- Strong transactional background and contract negotiation skills
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational abilities
Preferred:
- In-house experience in real estate development
- Familiarity with construction law and public-private partnerships
