Position Summary:

The Assistant Foreperson plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Propagation Department in Winterville, GA, with a primary focus on shipping, labeling, and inventory. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating shipping logistics, overseeing labeling, and supporting the crew to ensure timely and efficient execution of all tasks. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to lead others, and collaboration with multiple departments and locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and maintain accurate inventory of propagation plants, hard goods, and materials
  • Update yields, ready-to-sell dates, and perform system adjustments in collaboration with the corporate inventory team
  • Oversee labeling processes for propagation materials and ensure timely completion
  • Support pulling and shipping of orders to customers and other Bailey locations, including paperwork and logistics coordination
  • Train and oversee a crew of employees, providing direction and support
  • Organize and execute daily work plans with minimal supervision
  • Monitor ongoing tasks and ensure they are completed efficiently and safely
  • Promote a safe work environment and enforce company safety protocols
  • Track and report data, metrics, and updates to leadership as needed
  • Contribute to process improvements and workflow efficiencies
  • Support additional propagation and operational tasks as assigned

  • Basic leadership skills and willingness to train others
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and data entry
  • Understanding of basic plant care practices (watering, weeding, pest control)
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Valid driver's license (meeting company insurability requirements)

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience in plant production, shipping, or inventory management
  • Familiarity with nursery or agricultural operations

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This position requires the ability to lift up to 60 lbs., stand and walk for extended periods, bend, squat, and kneel. Work takes place in both indoor and outdoor settings, including production and warehouse areas. Exposure to dirt, dust, humidity, and fluctuating temperatures is expected. The ability to work under time constraints while maintaining safety and accuracy is essential.
