The Assistant Director for Student Success plays a vital role in fostering academic achievement, student engagement, and retention. This position oversees a range of academic support services, including tutoring, workshops, and targeted student success interventions. In addition to managing students on academic probation, the Assistant Director will assist the Director ofStudent Success with coordinating the university's Trailblazer Program, a first-year initiative focused on building community, academic confidence, and student success among first- generation college students.Key Responsibilities: Academic Support Coordination
- Recruit, hire, train, and schedule peer tutors and graduate assistants.
- Collaborate with Accessibility Services to ensure inclusive academic support.
- Design and facilitate academic skills workshops for general and probationary students.
- Support timely continuing registration efforts in collaboration with Academic Affairs.
Trailblazer Program Leadership
- Work with the Director of Student Success to coordinate all aspects of the Trailblazer Program, including student engagement activities, mentorship, and co-curricular learning experiences.
- Serve as the primary contact and advisor for Trailblazer students, helping them navigate campus life and resources.
- Develop programming that supports the transition, retention, and academic success of first year and underrepresented student populations.
- Track program participation and assess program outcomes to guide continuous improvement.
Student Success Interventions
- Provide individual and group support to students on academic probation, including academic coaching and referrals.
- Collaborate with the Director to identify at-risk students and implement retention strategies.
- Lead workshops on time management, study strategies, and academic goal setting.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate data on tutoring, academic support, and Trailblazer programming.
- Produce end-of-semester reports highlighting student engagement, outcomes, and recommendations.
- Assist in data collection related to unregistered students for targeted outreach.
Promotion & Outreach
- Promote academic support services through campus-wide marketing campaigns.
- Participate in prospective student events and new student orientation as needed.
Administrative & Student Services
- Respond to student inquiries in a timely and supportive manner.
- Support special events and initiatives aligned with student success goals.
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, communication, or a related field.
- Preferred: Master's degree and 2–3 years of experience in higher education, student support, or related services. Knowledge of EAB-Navigate.
- Proven ability to manage student programs and coordinate events.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with academic intervention strategies, student information systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
Work Conditions:
- Standard office setting with occasional evening or weekend hours required for events and student outreach.
