Responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor:
- Work directly with the Respiratory Therapy staff to provide top-quality respiratory care services to the patients in the unit.
- Provide essential leadership and administrative support for the health organization as a whole.
- Assist the Director of Respiratory in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Vent Unit and Respiratory Department.
- Perform clinical assessments, which includes, but not limited to: BS, cough, sputum, dyspnea, pain, fever, hearing, skin color, vision, vital signs, circulation, spirometry, mental status, activity and medicine profile.
- Responsible for routine patient follow-up contacts based on policy and procedures and individual patient needs.
- Provide ongoing client visits for equipment maintenance and care planning.
- Maintain good relations with clients and consult with referring physicians regarding patient treatment, medical conditions and home environments.
Requirements of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor:
- Must possess and keep a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in NY.
- Must be knowledgeable of respiratory and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to respiratory in nursing care facilities.
- Must be able to communicate in English and have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must possess and demonstrate the ability to carry out both verbal and written directions.
- Must possess and demonstrate good interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in supervisory role in a hospital, nursing care facility or other related health care facility, required.
