Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Maintenance GeneralDate Posted: 6/26/2025Location: MAINTENANCE BEAUMONT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Maintenance CLASSIFICATION: Exempt REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Maintenance and Operations PAY GRADE: ADM 4/ DAYS: 242 LOCATION: Maintenance DATE REVISED: 4/2/2018 PRIMARY PURPOSE: Oversee and manage operations of Plant, Maintenance, Plumbing Services, Safety, and Construction for BISD. This includes the development, implementation, and administration of policies, procedures, and standards of work for these areas that are consistent with BISD strategies and objectives. He/she will be accountable for the achievement of objectives consistent with BISD mission, vision, and values, as well as operational and strategic goals. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Clear and valid Texas driver's license Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of basic principles of construction, school plant maintenance, and custodial operations
- Working knowledge of OSHA, MSDS, boilers, compressors, generators; extensive experience in HVAC, plumbing, electric, carpentry and general maintenance
- Ability to successfully direct and motivate others
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Ability to identify maintenance problems, plan, and follow through to their solution in a timely manner •Ability to Multi-Task, stay on task, and maintain focus in stressful situations
- Excellent customer service skills, ability to problem solve and satisfy customer expectations
- Flexibility in work hours and days; ability to respond in an emergency situation
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

- Solid computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office Experience:
- Three years supervisory experience in maintenance operations
- Three years experience in maintaining a large plant or building
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Building Maintenance and Repair
Assist the Director with management of Department operations and personnel. Develop and maintain written departmental procedures on repair, maintenance, operations, and safety. Prepare plans and specifications for contracted repair work and site improvement. Schedule and ensure completion of all maintenance and repairs. Provide oversight of contracted maintenance and/or repairs to ensure timely completion of services. Maintain records of all repairs, preventative maintenance, warranties, and inspections. Assist with coordination of department operations, budgets, and monitor expenditures. Policy, Reports, and Law Comply with federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in maintenance areas. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required in maintenance areas. Personnel Management Supervise and assign maintenance staff responsibilities and schedules. Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions in maintenance department. Safety Oversee regular inspections of BISD facilities and equipment for safety, upkeep, and appearance. Ensure employees work in compliance with State, Federal, and OSHA standards. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of skilled craftsmen, lead custodians, grounds supervisors, and support staff assigned to maintenance department. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands
