This unit seeks to drive academic excellence by supporting innovative pedagogy, dynamic curriculum, and sound assessment practices that improve student learning and support academic success. With this goal in mind, this position's responsibilities include providing effective leadership of assigned initiatives focused on innovation and assessment of student learning, providing detailed and careful administrative oversight of hiring practices, event planning, and departmental course enrollment; and providing exemplary teaching in the classroom paired with contributions to assessment of current curriculum and instruction.This position supervises the Graduate Assistant for LIA and is responsible for effective leadership and intentional professional development of this student employee. This position reports to the Director of LIA and works within the LIA team to support Student Success, the Senior Associate Vice Provost and the Provost Office in efforts related to student experience, retention, and graduation.Regular, in-person, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others across the university.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution (discipline open)
  • At least three years of experience in teaching at the higher education level
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with academic advisors, faculty, and student success staff at the higher education level as evidenced by application materials
  • Experience with student success initiatives at the higher education level
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited institution (discipline open)
  • ACUE Certification or similar faculty development credentials
  • Demonstrated experience in leading or supporting faculty development initiatives and/or instructional improvement and /or student success initiatives at the higher education level
  • Proven track record of implementing innovative teaching strategies and improving student learning outcomes at the higher education level
  • Experience in academic coaching or academic advising at the higher education level
  • Experience conducting peer observations of teaching at the higher education level
  • Proficiency with student information systems (Workday, Starfish) and learning management tools (Blackboard)
  • Experience with assessment processes related to teaching and academic programs
