The Assistant Director is a system strategist and CRM champion who thrives on discovering opportunities others miss, then turning insight into action to improve enrollment outcomes and operational effectiveness. This role drives innovation and efficiency across the graduate enrollment process by proactively managing and optimizing Slate CRM workflows, events, forms, queries, and long-term infrastructure. The Assistant Director leads CRM customization and optimization efforts, supports cycle preparation, and serves as a liaison with both internal stakeholders and the Slate CRM leadership team. This role is responsible for documenting business processes, recommending improvements to Slate processing operations, and providing training and first-level support to staff. A self-starter with excellent organizational skills, the Assistant Director takes a hands-on approach to problem solving, system improvements, and user support. The ideal candidate brings initiative, intellectual curiosity, and an appreciation of precision-consistently seeking ways to improve systems, elevate data integrity, and strengthen the strategic capabilities of the graduate enrollment team. Experience Required
- Prior experience working in a detail-oriented or technical environment (can include internships, part-time work, or academic projects)
- Demonstrated ability to learn complex systems quickly and apply knowledge to solve problems

- Experience using or supporting CRM systems (preferably Slate), even in an academic or internship setting
- 1-2 years in admissions, recruitment, customer service, or a similarly fast-paced, goal-driven field

Strategic CRM Leadership
- Serve as a key leader on the Slate CRM team, shaping structure and priorities for graduate enrollment technology
- Collaborate with the Director of Enrollment Technology and Communication to manage graduate systems while maintaining alignment with undergraduate frameworks, identifying opportunities for system-wide enhancements that benefit both populations while applying customizations judiciously
- Leverages continuous learning of industry trends and best practices to recommend and implement technological improvements based on analysis, user feedback, and evolving recruitment needs
- Actively contribute to enrollment growth by using CRM tools to improve applicant engagement, reduce friction in the admissions process, and surface high-impact data for decision-making.
Process Optimization & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Conduct regular reviews of current business practices with graduate enrollment counselors and the Slate CRM team
- Identify pain points, inefficiencies, or gaps in data collection and process design-and propose viable solutions
- Collaborate with internal teams (IT, marketing, registrar) to ensure full CRM integration with broader university systems
Documentation, Training & User Enablement
- Develop and maintain a robust library of up-to-date documentation and SOPs
- Lead individualized and group training sessions to empower end-users with confidence and self-sufficiency in Slate
- Maintain a knowledge base and troubleshooting resources for onboarding and long-term system adoption
