Assistant Director of After School ProgramsHebrew Educational Society9502 Seaview AveBrooklyn, NY 11236Demonstrate positive leadershipAct as a role model to the staff and all families servicedPatrol rooms to assess counselors' and supervisors' performance and to ensure a positive room toneEnsure that counselors and staff are adhering to the H.E.S. employment policiesAssignments must be completed in a timely mannerDirector must be informed of all matters / occurrences / situations involving staff and students of the H.E.S. After School ProgramEstablishing a clear separation between supervisor and counselorEnsuring that you and your counselors come to work dressed appropriatelyEnsuring that students' supplies are stocked and made availableParent Homework Completion Logs must be available for all groupsXerographs must be made prior to the day they are neededComputers must be functioning prior to students' arrivalEnsure attendance sheets are updated monthly (bus and room)Transportation is facilitated daily to ensure a safe transition from each child's school to the H.E.S.Prepare alternate activities for groupsEnsure that all groups transition to their activities prior to their start timeRooms must be prepared prior to students' arrivalGreet parents upon their arrival and maintain a positive relationship with themParents must be informed of occurrences involving their child(ren)Homework monitoring sheets must be filled out and filed dailyParents must be contacted daily regarding write-up from the homework monitoring sheetsMaintain a professional rapport with parentsFacilitate family engaging activities once a monthSign-out books must be maintained and each page datedAttendance accurately collected and recorded in a timely mannerSupplies must be cared forActively participate in all aspects of professional developmentSupport the Director in the operational components of the After School ProgramCollaborate with the Registration Department to confirm the children's documentation to start/continue programmingMaintain a professional rapport with the schools we serviceAttendance must be taken, maintained, and recorded to support ACS required documentationAttendance must be taken, maintained, and recorded to support DYCD SONYC requirementsThe ASP office must be kept clean and organizedWalkie-talkies must be charged and maintainedSupervise children and staff during on-site activitiesSupervise children and staff during off-site tripsSupport the facilitation of activities by activity specialistsCommunicate with parentsCommunicate / work under the supervision of the Assistant Camp Director & Camp DirectorMust be punctualPerform other duties as assigned or directed by the DirectorMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree is preferredPrior supervisor experience is requiredPrior experience working with children is requiredPrior experience working in After School Program is requiredMust be a team player and enjoy working with youthsMust be dependable and able to meet the required schedule of the departmentMust have strong leadership skills and be self-motivatedMust have excellent time management skillsMust be detail-orientedExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in Google and Microsoft suitesCPR/RTE/ First Aid certifications are preferred$45,000 - $55,000Agency Information: The Hebrew Educational Society, a thriving multi-service, comprehensive community center located in southeast Brooklyn, provides a diverse array of programs and services within a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment that is inclusive of people of all ages and ability levels.
