Salary: $77,293.00 - $127,754.00 Annually Location : Catonsville, MD Job Type: Full-Time Staff Job Number: 2025-047 Division: Administrative Services Department: Facilities Management Opening Date: 05/23/2025 Class Description The purpose of this class is to provide leadership and oversee planning, direction, control and evaluation of all work associated with the day to day operation of assigned College division or function. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in grounds maintenance, mail services and facilities operations. Proven landscaping, operational and supervisory experience at a commercial or educational facility. Must have a valid driver's license in good standing with violation points less than five (5). Class Specific Essential Duties
  • Manage the overall day to day operations of assigned College division or function.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement projects, programs and/or initiatives.
  • Supervise, advise, and evaluate assigned staff, as required.
  • Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
  • Serve as liaison between College departments, vendors, government agencies and/or other external organizations.
  • Manage operating budget for assigned division or function, as required.

  • Single point of contact for facility management issues on the respective campus.
  • Responsible for daily inspection programs, visiting with end users and making recommendations to FM management
  • Ensures service satisfaction through multiple written and oral methods, implementing change as necessary to improve services.
  • Supervises and provides daily oversight of college campus in all phases of landscape maintenance, cleaning of streets, walks, parking area (including removal of snow and ice) and readiness of athletic fields.
  • Oversee the implementation of all in-house and contracted landscape projects, providing coordination, supervision, and planning as requested.
  • Coordinates the seeding, fertilization, disease and pest control applications as required and determines lawn mowing and plant beds priorities and schedules.
  • Responsible for directing equipment repairs and preventative maintenance programs so equipment performs as designed and is safe to operate.
  • Seeks continuous improvement by monitoring industry trends and taking maximum advantage of technologies to improve landscaping and maximize efficiency.
  • Ensures that supervisors and employees are well educated and thoroughly trained in work techniques, customer service and standards.
  • Coordinates with campus service providers for necessary program support services; including, but not limited to, facilities arrangements (program/facility set-ups), maintenance or building service's needs, and other services.
  • Oversees mail services operations for campus.
  • Manages financial performance of the operation and monitors budget versus expenditures of department accounts. Implement cost control mechanisms for labor and inventory needs.
  • Provides effective human resources management for the operation with the effective managing of annual evaluation process, EEO laws and policies compliance, and recruitment.
  • Utilizes the department's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to identify problem areas and develop responses for improvement
  • Administers the campus fleet program, providing timely communications with end-users, establishing and overseeing preventative maintenance program on all campus vehicles.
  • An essential employee for the Facilities Management department for severe weather or significant campus events.
  • Subject to recall after hours in the event of campus emergencies, disasters, or other special needs as directed by management.
