Assistant Director, Community Impact and Campus Connection - The University System of New Hampshire : Job Details

The Assistant Director, Community Impact and Campus Connection plays a vital role in advancing Plymouth State University's mission of Ut Prosim by advancing student learning and multisector partnerships through innovative and reciprocal community engaged learning initiatives. This position facilitates major volunteer, service learning, and co-op experiences, while coordinating campus-wide educational workshops on ethical and engaged project-based learning. This position serves as the primary advisor to student-led service organizations and directs impactful initiatives such as the Student Support Foundation and Swipe It Forward, which collectively address food insecurity, financial crisis response, and basic needs support for students. This role collaborates with community partners, faculty, and student leaders to ensure meaningful and sustainable programming that supports both student development and connection to campus.

In addition to direct programming, this position manages the Off Campus Work Study Program, supervising over 70 student employees annually across regional non-profit placements. They also contribute to departmental strategy and Student Life initiatives, such as Orientation and campus-wide traditions and events. This role supports curricular integration of service learning, gathers and reports engagement data, and maintains strong campus and community partnerships. The Assistant Director is an institutional leader in high-impact practices, contributing to PSU's regional and national reputation through conference presentations, collaboration with peer institutions, and participation in university-wide committees.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate multi-sector partnerships (25%)
• Lead co-curricular community engagement program and funded multidisciplinary projects across various sectors of the community including business, non-profit, municipality, and legislative partners.
• Recruit and maintain relationships with partners and students.
• Develop, maintain, and assess off campus multi-sector, community-wide partnerships, Coops, and internships throughout the region.
• Facilitate large-scale campus-wide projects and events that includes students, faculty, staff, community-based, and industry partners.
• Facilitate educational opportunities across campus providing foundational information that prepares students, faculty, and staff for on and off campus engagement opportunities with local leaders to maximize collective impact.
• Manage Community Impact programs and initiatives in support of student recruitment and retention efforts.
• Manage Student Support Foundation and provide advising and oversight of other community service oriented and entrepreneurship student organizations and initiatives that directly support student retention.
• Manage the Off Campus Work Study Program to Fulfill Federal Funding Requirements
• Hire and onboard 60+ student employees each year at 20+ eligible community-based agencies through Off Campus Federal Work Study program
• Leverage Off Campus Work Study partnerships in support of other Community Impact programs such as coops and internships in collaboration with OAA
• Facilitate student placements and preparation
• Partner recruitment and management
• Oversee time approval process
• Oversee office management; including budget management, student employment, procurement, website management, assessment, and co-writing annual reports.
• Collaborate cross-divisionally to provide events and educational opportunities for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff colleagues to integrate reciprocal community engagement experiences and partnership into curricular and co-curricular and initiatives.
• Develop curricular based service learning, project-based learning, coop, and internship placements in alignment with cluster learning and in collaboration with OAA
• Supervise the Community Impact Coordinator, a part-time hourly position that oversees Community Impact programs, student employment, partnership, coops, development, and administrative responsibilities.
• Collaborate with core professional staff of Student Life to make strategic decisions for the department and across campus partner departments and divisions to integrate and align efforts.
• Support Student Life programs and initiatives of Student Life departments; includes providing leadership and support on foundational campus programs and initiatives: Orientation Panther Days, Spring Fling, Ski Day, Student Organization structure & expectations, assessment and tracking platforms.
• Gather institutional wide data and stories for the purpose of reporting to the PSU community, funders, partnering organizations, business and non-profit industry leaders, community members, and other external stakeholder.
• Participate in the assessment of high impact learning by tracking metrics and outcomes using PSU supported tools
• Keep apprised of current trends.
• Keep up to date and to be fully knowledgeable of university policies. Facilitate and/or present at regional and national conferences. Serve on university committees as deemed appropriate and in the best interest of Plymouth State University. Assume other responsibilities and perform related duties as assigned.
