Assistant Director Blood Bank

Job Description

Leads all technical support and enhancements to clinical systems used at all H+H facilities, while supporting the execution of H+H s strategic priorities and business goals. The selected individual will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support for a set of applications for multiple clinical areas. The applications supported include Blood Bank, Point of Care, and Lab Instrumentation and others as assigned by management. The individual will be the primary technical contact for the aforementioned systems. This position reports to the Director of Laboratory Information Systems.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master s degree from an accredited college or university in Healthcare, Hospital, Public or Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior or a related discipline and three (3) years of full-time experience planning, developing and monitoring programs, systems and/or procedures in support of administrative management initiatives, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible managerial or supervisory capacity;

OR A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed above and four (4) years of full-time experience, as outlined in above, two (2) years of which must have been in a responsible managerial or supervisory capacity;

OR- A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience (~9 yrs.).

OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Become the technical expert in multiple clinical applications. Perform troubleshooting, problem analysis/resolution and system tuning.
  • Design the optimal configuration for each application including servers, database access, client/server access and interfaces to other applications. Provide specifications for proper system configuration.
  • Configure vendor software for proper use including desktops, web servers and terminal server access (Citrix, VMWare)
  • Maintain documentation for application servers and associated devices.
  • Modify the application configuration as needed to support changes to infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with others, independently with minimal supervision and in a timely fashion.
  • Highly self-motivated and team oriented.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, confidential, strong customer-service orientation.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in IT Healthcare Technical settings
