• Title: Assistant Dean of the School of Health Professions • Department: Dean's Office, School of Health Professions • Campus: Brookville, New York Assistant Dean of the School of Health Professions Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities: The Assistant Dean reports directly to the Dean of the School of Health Professions (SHP) and is responsible for the overall development and operation of the educational programs in the SHP, personnel, faculty and student management, and day-to-day affairs of the community service missions of the school, as well as overseeing and evaluating the SHP academic programs, including their annual reports and accreditations. Principal Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Dean: • Provides academic leadership and oversight for undergraduate and graduate SHP programs. • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the school, including faculty workload, course coverage, student enrollment, and all reporting and data management duties • Plans with the faculty and appropriate committees for student recruitment, admission, progression, retention and advisement activities related to the undergraduate and graduate programs. • Assists the Dean in the recruitment and selection of faculty and staff • Advises and counsels students; mediates problems between students and faculty • Takes over responsibilities of the School in Dean's absence • Special projects as defined by the Dean (e.g., Dean's Research Initiative) Education Requirements: • Earned doctorate in one of the allied health professions (e.g., social work, psychology) or doctorate in a related field plus a master's degree in an allied health profession • Five to eight years related professional experience; demonstrated leadership and management abilities, and operational skills, administrative and teaching experience • Working knowledge of allied health professions curricula and general accreditation standards. Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience: • Excellent skills in leadership, operations, accountability, supervision, and written and oral communication • Prior teaching and administrative experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program • Credentials at the rank of least Assistant Professor • Experience in writing grant proposals and conducting research • Licensed in New York State, if applicable Working Conditions: Kumble Hall (Brookville) Materials & Equipment: Operate a computer, copy and fax machine, scanner & any other office equipment LIU is an equal opportunity employer.
