Position Summary Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Director for Rose Hill Advising, the Assistant Dean for Sophomores works in collaboration with other advising deans, the personal and professional development staff, and colleagues throughout the business school and university to ensure the academic success of the sophomore class. The Assistant Dean works with students individually on registration, curricular requirements, and academic progress, and leads large-group advising sessions on topics that contribute to student development. Additionally, they serve as an instrumental administrative leader for the implementation of the business integrated core curriculum. Essential Functions Advises Gabelli sophomores on issues relating to registration, business core requirements, major discernment/declaration, and other curricular issues. Manages ongoing student review and academic auditing to ensure student persistence. Monitors academic progress, and implements probation, suspension, and/or termination decisions. Identifies appropriate academic interventions for students in conjunction with Student Support Specialist, class deans, and advisors. Leads administrative responsibilities related to the business integrated core curriculum for sophomores, including but not limited to development and implementation of cohort registration materials to be used by all advisors, cohort registration, and cohort enrollment planning. Coordinates with the Assistant Director for Academic Administration to support the development of cohort team assignments and address team dynamics throughout the term. Coordinates with the Director of Student Athlete Support and the GSB Assistant Dean for Specialized Advising to ensure appropriate registration for their populations. Oversees the Rose Hill major declaration process for sophomore students, coordinating the declaration period as well as major discernment advising in conjunction with academic areas. Coordinates and instructs the Integrated Learning Community for Global Business, inclusive of supporting resident selection, leading curriculum/ enrollment planning, and providing experiential learning opportunities as part of the program. Collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Global Initiatives to support the study abroad application process for sophomore students, including applications for the London Centre as well as external programs. Management Responsibilities Not responsible for supervision or oversight of others. Additional Functions Supports the Senior Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies and university staff and committees in developing and executing retention strategies. Initiates and organizes co-curricular activities to improve student engagement and retention. Utilizes current technology, including Banner and Ram Central, to maintain accurate student records. Assists in admissions, orientation, graduation, and other university-related events. Interacts with university departments, including but not limited to Registration, Career Services, and Student Services. Required Qualifications: Education and Experience Master's degree. Minimum of 3 years of experience advising students in a business education setting. Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated ability to advise and teach in an AACSB-accredited business school. Commitment to student development and meeting the higher education needs of students. Preferred Qualifications PhD or EdD preferred. Higher Education Experience. Minimum Starting Salary $85,000 Maximum Starting Salary $95,000 Note Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills. Is this a Union position?
