The Assistant Dean will develop and execute a strategic vision for the academic student support units of Newcomb-Tulane College including College Advising, Success Coaching, the Academic Learning and Tutoring Center, and Athletics Student Support Services. The College is committed to ensuring that its students are immersed in an environment of holistic support that cultivates a growth mindset. The Assistant Dean, through the work of these four key support units, will lead this mission on behalf of the College. Newcomb-Tulane College is the academic home of 8,000+ Tulane undergraduate students and awards more than 1,500 bachelor's degrees per year. The Assistant Dean will oversee four directors who lead and oversee the operations, strategic planning, and student engagement programs and protocols of these key support units. The Assistant Dean will be a member of the vice dean's strategic leadership team and collaborate with other leaders of student support offices as well as contribute to strategic planning and leverage unit support in the areas of retention, graduation, and the TU Thrive program for first-generation and limited income students. The Assistant Dean will also be responsible for carrying out the mission and values of Newcomb-Tulane College. The Assistant Dean will oversee and deliver assessment and data reporting for the College's academic student support units as well as maintain strategic partnerships with school units. • Ability to work weekends during special events • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Effective time management skills • Excellent project management skills • Great attention to detail • Ability to process and easily reference policies and regulations • Ability to work with CRM, Banner, Degree Works, and other software as needed • Working knowledge of standard computer software such as Office Suite, email, etc., and the ability to learn and utilize specific software necessary for academic and career advising practice is required • Ability and desire for continuous improvement and learning academic advising management best practices • Ability to motivate and inspire students and teams • Ability to resolve complaints • Master's Degree and previous 5-7 years of experience in academic support services, preferably in academic advising, success coaching, and/or with academic tutoring. (or closely related experience) in an educational setting. • Leadership experience in the fields of student development in higher education and academic support services. • Experience leading and directing a staff of managers and/or employees Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
