This position is responsible for managing the organization's financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and assisting with financial reporting and analysis. Accounting activities include overseeing daily accounting operations, assisting with month-end and year-end closings, and preparing financial statements. They also play a key role in implementing and maintaining internal controls and procedures.Key Responsibilities
  • Manages the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processes.
  • Oversees the financial close process, including journal entry approval, financial analysis, reconciliations, and the preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements.
  • Leads in the design and documentation of financial reporting automated workflows.
  • Implements and maintains internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure data accuracy, as well as compliance with regulations.
  • Supervises the Accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and Payroll Teams.
  • Prepares the 990, 990T, and other tax and compliance filings.
  • Supports both internal and external audits, such as the annual financial statement audit, federal single audit, state single audit, and 403(b) retirement plan audit.
  • Identifies areas for process improvement within the accounting department and implements solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Controller and CFO.
Required ExperienceEDUCATION
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience required. Master of Business Administration or masters degree focused in accounting preferred.
Experience And Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience required; ideally in health care and/or non-profit industry; preferably in complex organization with multiple programs preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights.
  • Experience with accounting software and other relevant financial tools.
  • Proficiency in excel including pivot tables, and v look-ups.
  • Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work under deadlines.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including senior management, auditors, and other departments.
  • Cultural competency to work with diverse employee population.
