Primary Care Veterinarian The Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine (LIU-CVM) invites applications from self-directed, innovative and motivated individuals for a full-time, tenure or clinical track faculty position in Primary Care. Successful candidates for this position will have various responsibilities including: (1) serve as Clinical Year Veterinary Mentor for 4th year veterinary students, (2) conduct site visits to partners/affiliate veterinary hospitals, (3) teach in the Veterinary Skills courses. Veterinary skills courses include both clinical and professional skills. The successful candidate will participate in and or lead veterinary skills laboratories according to their expertise. Thus, candidates with all levels of expertise and experience are encouraged to apply. The position may be filled as Assistant or Associate Professor and may select either clinical or tenure track options. Clinical faculty is primarily engaged in the College's educational and service activities. Responsibilities may include working with LIU-CVM partners/affiliate veterinary hospitals. Successful candidates are expected to promote LIU-CVM's overall mission of enhancing veterinary medicine education through a commitment to teaching, academic excellence, research, and service to a variety of stakeholders. Clinical Year Veterinary Mentors are responsible for supporting and monitoring the progress of 25- 27 fourth year veterinary students throughout their clinical year. Additionally, Clinical Year Veterinary Mentors will assist with training pre-clinical classes about the clinical year in an institution using a semi-distributed model of clinical education. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a DVM or equivalent degree. Specialty boards and advanced degrees are preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of curricular design and implementation. S/he/they will have the proven ability to promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusiveness and will interact well with University administration, the veterinary education community, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
