Assistant Accommodations Coordinator
The Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) welcomes applications for an experienced professional to assist with coordinating federally mandated, CSD-approved accommodations, specifically testing accommodations and note-taking assistance at the Storrs campus. The Assistant Accommodations Coordinator reports directly to the Accommodations Coordinator and works in collaboration with students, faculty, and staff to ensure efficient coordination of academic accommodations.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Assists with the organization and implementation of day-to-day processes and procedures for the coordination of testing accommodations including but not limited to: exam preparation and roll out, exam security, assessment scheduling, in house and remote proctoring coordination, regular communication with faculty regarding exam administration, regular communication with students regarding exam scheduling, and maintaining electronic exam records in CSD database.
- Monitors and implements day-to-day tasks for the coordination of note-taking assistance, including outreach and hiring of note takers, maintaining notetaking database, training of notetakers, and assisting notetakers with completion of employment documentation.
- Serves as a resource for students, faculty, and staff regarding testing administration, note-taking assistance procedures, and other CSD services.
- Utilizes professional judgment and initiates resolutions for routine issues associated with testing accommodations.
- Assists with hiring and training of graduate and undergraduate student employees involved in the provision of academic accommodations, including proctors, lab assistants, readers, and scribes.
- Works in conjunction with instructors to secure proctors and reserve space for courses in which exams are administered outside of regular CSD business hours.
- Utilizes professional judgment and experience to improve the efficiency and efficacy of procedures.
- Communicates with University departments such as CETL, ITS, Registrar, and DOS to collaborate on matters and issues at the University level to facilitate accommodations more seamlessly.
- Assists with maintaining CSD's website in collaboration with Center staff.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree and two to three years of related experience.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary for effective work relationships.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience with coordinating testing center activities.
- Demonstrated experience in higher education.
- Experience working with graduate and undergraduate student employees.
- Experience with alternate format materials.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
