Baby-Friendly USA is the accrediting body and national authority for the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) for the United States. As a non-profit accreditation organization, we are dedicated to evaluating and ensuring compliance with Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria of the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding in maternity care facilities across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Position Summary:

The Assessment Coordinator supports the accreditation process under the direction of the Accreditation Director. This role is 100% computer-based and involves a wide range of clerical and coordination tasks to support the assessment process.

You will interact daily with maternity care facilities across the U.S. and Puerto Rico to ensure they are prepared for assessment. You will also work with our assessors, other internal departments, and our external travel agency.

Coordinating schedules and travel between the assessors and facilities, tracking progress towards accreditation, collecting data and generating reports to support follow-up and planning will be a few key components to your daily activities.

Key Functions:

  • Monitoring and managing maternity care facilities' assessment preparation activities, including document request, verification and scheduling.
  • Tracking maternity care facilities' activity regarding accreditation deadlines and preparing reports based on those activities.
  • Communicating with maternity care facilities to ensure readiness for assessment.
  • Technology testing with facilities and assessors, as needed.
  • Assist with Assessor travel arrangements and resolve any travel conflicts with the assistance of our travel agents.
  • Prepare and maintain electronic file system for assessors to review while conducting assessments.
  • Clerical tasks for the Accreditation Department as assigned by the Accreditation Director.

Education/Experience/Tech Requirements:

  • An employment history that reflects a minimum of two positions, each held for a minimum of two years.
  • A minimum of an associate's degree in human services, communication or related field, or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites Software, to include but not limited to: Outlook, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working 100% on a computer in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Experience with travel coordination software and the complexity of scheduling travel arrangements is preferred.

We will only hire a candidate local to Albany, NY for in-office work. Hybrid options will be discussed during your interview.
