The Carle Illinois College of Medicine is seeking highly qualified applicants for Assessment and Evaluation Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing high-level assistance in key functions associated with managing, evaluating, and improving a complex medical curriculum. The person holding this position will work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff, and are under the direct supervision of the Director of Educational Assessment and the general direction of the Assistant Dean for Curriculum, Assessment, Evaluation and Enrollment.
Duties and responsibilities include assisting the Director of Educational Assessment in the design, approval, and implementation of assessment and evaluation plans and tools related to preclinical, clinical, project, and elective courses. Participation and support in debrief sessions, subcommittee course reviews, and other activities associated with evaluating and improving required courses and clerkships in the MD curriculum, which includes the foundational science courses, the clinical courses and clerkships, and the engineering and innovation courses. Assembling relevant data packets distributed to course directors and the relevant Faculty Education Director for evaluation by relevant subcommittees of the Curriculum Oversight Committee. Active participation in debrief sessions and review processes for all required courses and clerkships. Utilizing project management tracking systems to ensure that approved recommendations are implemented. Collecting and analyzing various data; preparing scheduled and special reports; maintaining program/project records and statistical information when applicable. Collaborating in the processes utilized to assess student performance, assess faculty performance, and evaluate required courses and clerkships. Expertly utilizing the assessment management systems to ensure that the appropriate and relevant forms are distributed to faculty and medical students as each required rotation or course concludes. Compiling course and clerkship evaluation data, including comments submitted by students, as well as end of course/clerkship data for the purpose of evaluating and improving courses and clerkships. Generating reports associated with the process of evaluating required courses and clerkships to ensure that content, instructional methods, and assessment methods are aligned with course and clerkship objectives. Engaging with departmental leaders and administrators and staff in the Office of Academic Affairs to ensure that relevant data is shared appropriately. Providing reports regarding student academic and clinical workload. Providing staffing support for faculty workshops on evaluation and assessment. Attending regular department meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings as assigned. Troubleshooting or responding to faculty/student questions about the assessment management and curriculum management systems, as well as with examination platforms. Proctoring examinations. Serving as a Chief Proctor when necessary. Responsibilities include overseeing other proctors and generating exam performance reports. Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean for Curriculum, Assessment, Evaluation, and Enrollment, contribute to activities associated with curricular management and mapping. Actively participate in the curriculum mapping process. Assist in the preparation and reporting of curricular information to internal stakeholders (administration, faculty, staff, students) and external stakeholders such as the Association of American Medical Colleges (i.e., the annual AAMC curriculum inventory known as SCOPE).
