Job Description

As an Assembler, you will play a crucial role in building interior units for their product line. This position involves repetitive tasks, building various sized units, and requires mechanical proficiency. You will use hand and power tools, such as drills, sockets, and tape measures. The job may require working on a 6-foot ladder or using a scissor lift. It is a hands-on position that involves working with graphite, strapping units, and bending wire ties. While blueprint reading and forklift operation are not mandatory, they are advantageous skills.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company guidelines and safety procedures, including ISO standards.

  • Learn to effectively perform job requirements under supervision.

  • Set up and operate power tools and equipment like band saws, tack welders, and grinders.

  • Handle various materials, such as felt insulation, ceramic, graphite, and stainless steel.

  • Plan layout, parts positioning, and assembly sequences.

  • Work from blueprints to assemble units, including insulation installation.

  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.

  • Document work processes and material usage.

  • Load and unload trucks efficiently.

  • Prepare and load parts carts based on pick lists.

  • Maintain daily labor reports.

  • Communicate effectively with team leaders and supervisors.

  • Organize and maintain a clean and safe work area.

  • Supply own hand tools as required.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.

  • Mechanical aptitude and assembly skills.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in various units of measure.

  • Understanding of basic geometry concepts.

  • Capability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience or equivalent education and experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Blueprint reading is a plus.

  • Forklift experience is preferred.

  • Ability to learn forklift and crane operation certification.

Work Environment

This position operates in a union environment, working the first shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The facility is well-lit and organized, but be prepared for a hot environment during the summer months and getting dirty during tasks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pecatonica, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.36 - $22.36/hr.
