Male Associates, a multidiscipline firm offering comprehensive Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geology, Environmental, and Surveying services, is expanding its Environmental Division and has an immediate opening for an Asbestos Project Monitor/Air Sampling Technician. This is an outstanding opportunity for candidates seeking part time work or entry to the environmental field with the opportunity for advancement and transition to full time employment.As an Asbestos Project Monitor/Air Sampling Technician based in our Poughkeepsie, NY office, you will oversee a variety of environmental remediation projects, including asbestos, mold, and lead. Your work may involve collecting air samples, oversight to monitor regulatory compliance, and interface with abatement contractor supervisors, foremen, NYS inspectors and building owners to enhance quality assurance and quality control measures associated with construction, demolition, or renovation of spaces. Your attentiveness to proper site documentation and equipment organization is important to the success of the projects.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring the remediation of environmental materials during construction.
  • Interfacing with construction site team members, contractors, agency representatives and project owners.
  • Documenting project reports.
  • Organizing and operating monitoring equipment.
Requirements:
  • Be a minimum of eighteen (18) years old.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalency degree or higher.
  • Read and write English.
  • Able to solve basic math and science problems.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Able to travel routinely and possess reliable transportation capable of transporting monitoring equipment.
  • Experience in asbestos-related projects or environmental sites assessments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office is a plus.
Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.Additional Details: Working hours are typically 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, M-F with extended shift hours, i.e., overtime, overnight, weekends, holidays, occasionally required depending on project deadlines. Projects may include working outdoors, within attics, crawlspaces, boiler rooms, and working at elevated heights, climbing ladders, scaffolding, and utilizing lifts.C.T.
