Job Description

Eurofins Built Environment Testing is seeking an experienced Asbestos Analyst in Burlingame, CA.

The Analyst primarily performs analysis of bulk samples using PLM for asbestos, and analysis of non-culturable surface and air samples for fungi. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing environmental samples according to scientific methodology, validating and reviewing data for accuracy, and entering laboratory data into the LIMS system to generate reports for clients. The role requires knowledge of laboratory testing equipment, discretion, and judgment in its operation, and involves scheduling sample workloads and maintaining compliance with quality assurance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze aerobiological and environmental samples for asbestos and fungi.
  • Accurately enter and report analytical data using the LIMS system.
  • Perform independent data reviews for other analysts' work.
  • Conduct analysis of reference materials, proficiency samples, and quality control samples.
  • Maintain client service standards and provide technical support.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of QA processes.
  • Perform confirmation of lab results as needed.
  • Manage laboratory supplies and inventory, including re-ordering supplies.
  • Coordinate and manage project timelines for timely delivery.
  • Support training and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Maintain equipment and coordinate servicing.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to company policies.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience performing asbestos microscopy or spore trap analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, geology, or a related science.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 units of Microbiology courses.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Strong organizational and scientific skills.
Additional Information

This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with weekend coverage and overtime as needed.
