Job Overview

The Area Facilities Manager provides shift leadership and direction to a team of technicians and managers in delivering Material Handling, Industrial Automation, and Base Building services in a 24/7 logistics environment. Responsible for leading using KPIs/metrics to set up maintenance and operations teams for success. Reports to the Facilities Manager and manages Controls Systems Specialists and MHE Technicians during their shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish a safety-first culture through promoting safe practices and training.
  • Manage vendor and supplier performance.
  • Lead a shift of technicians to ensure 100% equipment uptime.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems, manage escalations, and handle emergencies.
  • Coordinate multiple projects, meet deadlines, and develop operational plans.
  • Ensure safety programs and procedures are followed.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance programs and foster relationships with senior leaders.
  • Develop business plans and oversee their implementation.
  • Uphold contractual obligations with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with site occupants and property management to meet company and customer needs.
  • Assist in managing operating budgets.
  • Implement SOPs and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Anticipate future business challenges and adapt plans proactively.
  • Build a high-performing, engaged team aligned with customer support mission.
  • Support facility performance through contracted services like cleaning, HVAC, and safety.
  • Monitor system repairs and ensure maximum uptime.
  • Conduct audits and maintain records for program compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in multi-building operations.
  • Experience managing MHE, Controls, and PIT operations.
  • Proven ability to manage 24/7 operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client relationship and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work within budget and time constraints; strategic and operational mindset.
  • Knowledge of building systems, commercial leases, and basic accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional affiliations (e.g., IFMA, BOMA) and certifications (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.) are a plus.
